COMPASSINATE SEEING: Approachable Techniques and Stories for Integrated Craniosacral Therapy

With Compassionate Seeing Heather Islander has graced the evolving body of craniosacral literature. She approaches the topic humbly, reverently and from her lived experience. Do not be misled; Ms. Islander is a master of her craft and brings a much needed integration of various craniosacral modalities. Similar to Upledger, Milne she builds upon foundational theory and techniques. She then moves beyond technique to encourage development of therapeutic presence, intuition and spiritual connection. Her work is fundamentally interdisciplinary and will leave the aspiring CST therapist and health seeker with a sense of awe and gratitude that healing is always possible.

Compassionate Seeing began as the framework for my Craniosacral Therapy classes. The intention was to create a book that invites people to explore how they see the healing journey. Written in a conversational style, the guidance offered is for any one interested in being a compassionate witness for themselves, or clients in a therapeutic setting. Each topic begins with a reflection from a client’s session, or my own experience to give the reader a sense of what is possible with this powerfully gentle modality.

Beginners and experts alike will find clear instruction on the structure and function of hands-on techniques, the components of therapeutic presence and dialogue, and distance healing while combining surprising ideas that are guaranteed to bring together all forms of craniosacral therapy.

Discover how to soften the tension patterns of physical injury, stress and trauma with guidance that empowers you to trust yourself. With trust and compassion, healing that integrates the body, mind and spirit is initiated.
